SCHEDULED YOUR CAR IN FOR A TUNE WITH US?

Tuning can be an exciting time for most car owners, yet stressful on the car, so to avoid disappointment and delays we’ve noted a few tips to make the process smoother, faster and easier...

If you know of anything that isn’t right, please tell us prior to your dyno session.

FRESH OIL PLEASE Bad oil is an engine’s biggest killer. In the case of a turbocharged engine, clean oil is even more essential, as the oil feed lines get blocked over time and can destroy a turbo, fast! Powertune stocks leading oil brands and we are happy to book your car in for a service.

CHECK YOUR SPARK PLUGS Depending on the application, generally spark plugs need to be changed every 10,000 kilometres. However, if your car has been running excessively rich or lean, plugs can be fouled, cracked or the tips broken off. Please inspect them before we find out that you’ve already tortured them.

LEAKS Leaks can be a pain which prevent us from completing a tune. Whether it’s oil from the engine or driveline, a water or fuel leak, it is important that they are addressed prior to tuning rather than on the dyno! Vacuum leaks and intercooler hoses popping off can be a time consuming saga. Make sure the clamps are tight and hoses in good condition.

FUEL Believe it or not, fuel does have a shelf life! If you have a long term project, or car which has been sitting around for many months, it’s a wise idea to bring it to us with fresh fuel.

It is extremely important that you run high quality fuel in your tank! Powertune recommends BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax 98RON.
